How we test
The same four rules apply to every product, whatever it costs and whoever makes it.
We get hold of a real product
Units are bought at retail wherever possible. When a brand supplies one, that fact is stated inside the review and it buys no advantage in the scoring.
We live with it for weeks, not minutes
Nothing is assessed on first impressions. Each product spends at least six weeks in normal daily use, because most real faults only surface after the novelty wears off.
Each criterion is scored on its own
Comfort, durability, value and the rest are rated separately and locked in before an overall figure is worked out, so one excellent area cannot quietly disguise a poor one.
The drawbacks always get published
Every article contains a section on what did not work. No review goes live without one, and nothing is taken out after publication because a brand asked.

Scores are decided by the person who did the testing and by nobody else. Coverage cannot be bought, a position in the ranking table cannot be bought, and where a page carries an affiliate link it has no bearing on the score, the wording or the order products appear in. Any commercial relationship that exists is disclosed on the article itself.
We will publish the drawbacks
Every review names the things that disappointed us, and we will not remove them later. We understand that is a risk for you. It is also the only reason readers act on what they read here, which means an honest strong result on this site is worth considerably more than a guaranteed one somewhere else.

- Email us the product, the market it sells in, and the specific claims you would like put under pressure.
- We confirm whether it suits our readers and give you a realistic window, because the queue is finite.
- Send a standard retail unit, not a hand picked one.
- We test it for a minimum of six weeks and publish whatever we find.
- You receive the link when everyone else does. There is no preview and no approval step.
